Harold's father was Benjamin W Gregory FRAS and his mother was Harriet Gregory. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Egbert, <Unknown>, Eva and <Unknown>. He was the third oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 40 on April 24th, 1917 in Battle of the Scarpe.

- Lcpl Harold GREGORY, 11th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment, is commemorated on his father's grave. He was killed in action in the Arras area of France on 24th April 1917. He has no known grave and is listed on the Arras Memorial To The Missing.
  Commemorated on Cheltenham War Memorial, The Promenade erected 1st October 1921 and in St Luke's Church, Cheltenham and St Mark's Methodist Church, Gloucester Rd
